SPHYNX?
At first sight the Sphynx cat or Sphynx kitten might look like a child’s experiment with a bottle of Nair, but the fact is Sphynx kittens are just born that way. The Sphynx is a hairless cat, a natural mutation, going back as early as the 1830’s. (check out our Sphynx History page). The fact that the Sphynx is a hairless cat is only a small part of why we are Sphynx breeders. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens have very unique personalities. I really do not consider myself an owner of Sphynx cats, because really, my Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens own me! Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens love their owners unconditionally. The Sphynx has so much love to give and is willing to love anyone that will allow them into their lives. When people think of cats, the words independent and aloof may come to mind. Not true of these hairless cats. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens are very social cats even with people they are not familiar with. The Sphynx cat thrives on attention and the more they get the happier they tend to be. Sphynx cats get along well with other cats, dogs, and well-behaved children. Sphynx kittens are very energetic and very acrobatic. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens love to play and show off and can keep a family entertained for hours. Sphynx cats are very intelligent. The Sphynx cat will learn their name very fast and will come when you call them. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens are so smart they are even able to learn tricks. With more of a dog like personality, many of my Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens know how to play fetch! Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens are also very talkative. Our Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens will talk back to us when we talk to them, it’s almost like you can carry on a conversation with them! The Sphynx are also very curios cats. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens do not like to be left out of anything that is going on around them. Many times they will demand to be included in all household activities. If you are working on a project most likely your Sphynx kitten or Sphynx cat will right there with you trying to help out. Barecats Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens are so bare that they are always looking for a warm place. A favorite of the Sphynx cat or Sphynx kitten is right on their owners lap. Sphynx cats also like to curl up around their owner’s neck. The Sphynx cat and Sphynx kitten are also known to find their way under a nice warm shirt, while it is being worn! Much like a small dog, Sphynx cats like to sleep in the bed with their owners. So if you’re looking for a cat or kitten that is affectionate, intelligent, and a very good companion, a Sphynx cat or Sphynx kitten might be the one for you. At Barecats, we have been Sphynx breeders for over seven years now. We do not breed any other cat only the Sphynx, also referred to as the hairless cat or hairless kitten. As Sphynx breeders we breed for health, first and foremost. Our Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens have been delightful addition to our home. Sphynx cats can come in any color that a hairy cat can be, but the color of the Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens is on their skin. We enjoy breeding Sphynx cats that can give us a variety of colors. We have Sphynx kittens that are red, blue, black, cream, bi-color, tortoiseshell, calico’s, color points, minks, and also sepia’s. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens can also have a variety of eye colors including, gold, green, amber, blue and aqua. I personally like all colors of Sphynx kittens. I can say that pictures do not always give them the justice they deserve. The Sphynx cat and Sphynx kittens are very unique and intriguing and really beautiful in person. Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens usually feel very different than one would expect. Most Sphynx cats are very soft, and some have more of a ‘squeaky clean’ feeling. Most people expect a really oily feel, but when you have a clean Sphynx cat or Sphynx kitten this is not the case. The Sphynx cat is not maintenance free. Since the Sphynx is a hairless cat, they need a bath about once a week. Here at our house bath day is usually on the weekend. Although most cats do not like water at all, these hairless cats tend to do very well with a bath. (see our Sphynx Care page). As Sphynx breeders we feel it is important to raise our Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens in our home as our pets first. At Barecats Sphynx, our Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens are all a part of our family and are very well socialized and are pretty much pre-spoiled before going to their new homes. They are an important part of our home and we strive daily to provide a clean disease free environment for our Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens to grow up in. Because the Sphynx are hairless cats, they must also be raised in a fairly warm environment, especially as young Sphynx kittens. We have plenty of nice warm beds for all of our Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens. If you are interested in being owned by a Sphynx kitten, please feel free to call or e-mail us for more information. We do ship our Sphynx kittens via airline, when the new owner is not able to pick their kitten up in person. Barecats Sphynx cats and Sphynx kittens are vet checked before going to their new homes. All of our Sphynx kittens are spayed/neutered before and will also have all age appropriate vaccines before leaving our premise. If you love cats and are thinking of a hairless cat, The Sphynx with their loving childlike personality is guaranteed to make a wonderful new addition to your family.
